New Site Features
Ever since I have started writing this blog, I have have started getting an increase in traffic. And the increase in traffic has in turn lead to an increase in questions being emailed to me. I don’t mind, I like the attention and I certainly have no problem sharing any experiences I have in both the military and the game industry. But I do wind up getting similar questions a lot. So to combat that problem, and to help provide a resource for people who might want more information on those subjects, I have created two new pages.
and
So you want to make video games?
From now on, all questions I receive about either subject are going up there, unless the submitter specifically asks me not to.
Also, I’m leaving comments on because as unlikely as it sounds, I don’t necessarily know everything, and sometimes someone else may have other helpful ideas.

Awesome, thanks for posting that. I’m considering the military myself, and appreciate any/all information I can find.
Rock on.

As sadistic as it may sound, I wouldn’t mind going back to basic. Ohh…and DS’s are not to be messed with. Like Skippy said, you will not like their perverse sense of humor. And, just for you Mormons out there, please try not to wear your magic underwear at basic…discovery of such items will earn you instant fame as being “simple minded”. You will then become the DS’s barracks snitch and no longer be a member of your platoon/flight. This is a bad thing. Trust me. Your magic underwear will magically be turned pink by any means necessary. And, oh yes, even your platoon leader will dislike you…and probably be the one to have turned your magic underwear pink. I’m just sayin.

DI’s are no joke, when I was in boot I told my DI, SSG Robinson (24 years old with a babyface) that it was a shame that I had only a week and a half left with him, when he asked me why, I said because I wouldn’t get to see him go through puberty. (that was right after “Under Siege” came out.)
Never smoked harder in my life than for that one, be a comedian after Basic it’s safer.

Staying under the radar is Rule Numero Uno. I did just that through basic and wasn’t noticed by the DIs until about two weeks after BRM. By then, they had already picked on just about everyone else in the platoon. And by then, they were much more relaxed with us than at the start.
Only in basic is it best to be picked last.
