I don’t normally care all that much for Megan McCain. She rarely contributes anything useful to political discussions. She achieved her fame more or less solely through family connections without doing anything noteworthy on her own. And frankly her writing rarely strikes me as insightful, or even particularly well thought out.
But then there’s this. This is brilliant.
*Yeah I can see how this title is ironic, all things considered, but it’s funny, right?

Yes. But, most of the rest of the family has been riding on hos coat tails for the past 40-50 years. (JFK and Robert Kennedy are the only 2 who really got anywhere on their own after their father made his money bootlegging).

I’ll admit that I’ve kind of grown to have a small bit of respect for Megan. I mean, I agree that she got where she is through family, and I won’t necessarily hold that against her, you can’t pick your family. But at the same time she has publicly disagreed with her father on some social issues and that takes guts. Still, her writing isn’t that great, it’s still in that college freshmen mentality of partially formed thoughts that never get carried through to the end.
Also, I wouldn’t mind polling her electorate, if you know what I mean.

I didn’t have the highest opinion of Mrs. McCain when her husband was running for President. But I have to admit, outside of the political arena, every now and then she’s had her moments. This one in particular was a good one. :)
I wonder if Mr. Beck ever responded….

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe that Megan is the daughter and Cindy is the “Mrs McCain” wife. Did I get that backwards?

So here’s the devil’s advocate post…This actually bothered me enough to go look it up.
After checking out the transcript of the show, and after re-listening to the “vicious tirade” that Beck went on, claiming horrible things like she “wear a burqa;” I wonder if any of you, or if Megan McCain for that matter, have heard the audio, seen the video, or read the transcript. I can’t seem to find anything about a burqa, and frankly, the four minute bit that happened to involve her (not ten as everyone seems to be defaulting to) was actually pretty funny live and when I watched the video just a moment ago. They let it go and moved on to other subjects afterwards.
McCain’s letter does not even demonstrate an ability to go after the man on the issues they disagree on; she simply goes for the quick insults that make her look good in the eyes of the low readership of the Daily Beast.

Merchant,where did you find the transcript? If someone has evidence to present I’ll look at it, but based on videos of subsequent conversations Beck had on the subject that video you linked wasn’t the whole thing.
