Sort Of Moved.
I am now an Arizonian. Driving cross country with a car full of animals was less fun than it sounds. Adapting to the heat is a whole new experience. Me and my wife are from Texas, so we thought we understood heat. Hah.
Texas is merely warm. Arizona is a sun-blasted hellscape.
So far we have an Internet connection, a card table and an air mattress but no other form of furniture as our movers have decided that we didn’t actually need any stuff until next week.
But my new job is completely awesome so it all works out.
I would also like to thank Michiel for taking over while I was unable to run the site. And I would also like to thank all of the regulars who formed a revolt against him while I was away. I want to see the final t-shirt design. Or photos of the naked-alcohol-bonfire-trebuchet part.
I’ll have some stories about the trip once I get more settled.

Welcome, to Arizona, the most hellish place on earth.

Heh, welcome to Arizona, you must be in the 6th level of hell (Phoenix) or the 7th (Tucson). Up north it’s a little nicer, at least in the winter.

Ah, Arizona. Land of my childhood and the Devil’s summer home. (I wonder if that’s a coincidence.) I recommend getting used to drinking lots of water from a bottle, because water that falls from the sky is a myth over there.

Heh um yeah welcome back. Good luck in Arizona, the awesome job should certainly make up for the heat. And as a side note for some reason my computer currently has a second clock set up for Arizona time, and I’m not entirely sure why.
Captcha “vista 87,500,000” what is that the price of a computer that can actually run the fricken OS properly?

It’ll cool down after a bit, and be merely uncomfortably hot. Midwinter, here in Phoenix, we may even get frost for approximately two seconds of the night!

For those who complain about the heat in Arizona: Ever been to the Middle East? For those who have, I’m sure you’ll agree that it is worse than anything Arizona could throw. For those who haven’t, trust us. I’ve been to both, and I tell you, Arizona is right nice. Although, I WAS in Baghdad when it snowed last year…. That was interesting to say the least.

Depends what part, Raven- Lake Havasu City is the third hottest place in the world (not the U.S.) after only Death Valley and a place in Libya during the day. At night, we’re actually second.
If you’re referring to the people shooting at you quotient, though, I would agree- Arizona is a lot nicer than the Middle East.

I imagine you’ll adjust quickly enough. My stepbrother and his wife visited his family after moving to Arizona a few months before, and all he could do was whine about how cold it was in Pennsylvania. In June. I shit you not. He actually wore a sweater.

Having lived in both Phoenix and Tucson (much better place), the real question is, “Where in AZ?”

Welcome to the desert!
And what heat? It’s only 100 degrees outside.

I like Wisconsin, but that’s just because I actually love the cold and snow. I’m a strange ‘un.

No Sicarius, you’re not strange at all. I’m from Ottawa, Canada, and I find it bloody hot at 25 degrees Celsius (dunno what that is in F). I’d literally die in Arizona in midwinter. =)
Good luck in your new job Skippy. Make us Stargate fans proud! =)

Lived in Chandler, just down the road from you, for 3 years in the 60’s. Michiel was born there. The only thing I didn’t like about Arizona was that everything is brown all of the time. Winters are very nice and the desert is beautiful in the Spring. You are in for some adventures. If you need to cool off in the Summer, take a drive up into the mountains. It actually rains up there and cools off.
