Bubble Wrap Apocalypse

Every once in a while you hear about an idea that just drives you mad with jealousy. I so wish I thought of this first.

    1. I love how the other soldiers are just laughing at them through the whole video then cheering them at the end.

    2. People have been saying that for a while but it’s about damn time someone put it into song.

    3. That makes me want to just pop more bubble wrap.

    4. Must buy that book.

Love it. The Yellow ribbon song is classic!

I never liked the whole yellow ribbon thing to begin with. In the song the ribbon is for a convict getting out of jail. Soldiers returning from wars are not convicts. Granted when I got out of the Army, in many ways I felt like I was getting out of jail, but that’s not quite the same thing.

Actually, I blame my father for the whole thing. He was a DJ and one of first people to start pinning a real piece yellow ribbon on his coat to support the hostages in Iran in 1980. A good idea run amuck.

Captcha: Burnett Guffey sound like a small town used car salesman.

That bubblewrap thing may have been one of the most disturbing things I have ever seen. And I’ve been to Boy’s Town in Mexico.

    Awesome with the yellow ribbons.

There are worse things that could happen in Basic.

    Captcha: volley bass-New Olympic sport?

(In the first one at least, I haven’t seen the new one with Johnny Depp.)

I like Pride and Prejudice to begin with. Zombies can only improve it. Now someone just needs to write Villette by Charlotte Bronte, with ninjas. I know I’m not the only one to see it!

Foul member of Jane Austen’s Legion! The forces of Mark Twain shall surely hunt you down before long!

Not if we get you first! The Austen-Brontë Alliance will triumph!

Sicarius reply on January 30th, 2009 8:37 pm:

Hey now, leave Brontë out of this >(

Minty reply on January 30th, 2009 8:46 pm:

Chris brought up Brontë first with the whole Villette-ninjas thing. Don’t blame me.

Captcha: “Beggs 44th.” The Beggs 44th Regiment is already rolling. Prepare to get fucked.

Sicarius reply on January 30th, 2009 9:00 pm:

Pacifism does not make for good defense. Please use lube.

Sean Beattie reply on January 30th, 2009 9:04 pm:

I’d put my money on a Twain/Tesla alliance kicking the ever-loving scheisse out of an Austen-Bronte (I don’t know how to Umlaut) alliance. Five Fists of Science says so.

Captcha= Warrens Hello……I’m getting flashbacks to Dick Tracy.

Minty reply on January 30th, 2009 9:29 pm:

    “Please use lube.”

    Any preference?

Sicarius reply on January 30th, 2009 9:40 pm:

If there’s sand and glitter in it, I’m game.

Minty reply on January 30th, 2009 9:51 pm:

Sorry, no glitter and sand to be found. However, you have a choice of Cherry Vanilla or Green Apple.

Sicarius reply on January 30th, 2009 10:33 pm:

I like how Apple sounds. Gimme some of that.

Minty reply on January 30th, 2009 10:47 pm:

Apple it is! Hope you love that aspartame.

Sicarius reply on January 30th, 2009 10:50 pm:

I love a lot of things that I probably shouldn’t!

Chris reply on January 30th, 2009 10:52 pm:

Tesla would be picking up all of Twain’s slack.

    And Cherry Vanilla.

Minty reply on January 30th, 2009 10:55 pm:

“Tesla would be picking up all of Twain’s slack.”

Which is why Austen and Brontë would win–neither’s a drunk, which means both would pull their own weight.

Sicarius reply on January 30th, 2009 10:58 pm:

Ahem. Inigo Montoya was a drunk, and look at how well he handled himself? Being fictional has nothing to do with it >(

Minty reply on January 30th, 2009 11:47 pm:

You’re also forgetting all that repressed rage and sexual tension the ladies have going for them. That and I bet Charlotte Brontë has some very pointed comments after dealing with her worthless brother Branwell.

Sicarius reply on January 31st, 2009 12:13 am:

I cook, clean, and shop among other things. The ladies would just pass me by when I ask if anyone wants to watch The Notebook! Then while they’re running away I detonate the bombs.

Sean Beattie reply on January 31st, 2009 10:19 am:

Two women attacking Tesla would not work, not matter who they are. Tesla was OCD of the highest order, and practically phobic about being touched. He’d electrocute the shit out of them both, and then we’d be rid of some highly overrated prose from the past few centuries. Tesla’s gangsta like that.

Anonymous and STILL Employed reply on February 4th, 2009 9:42 am:

Here’s an Idea, why don’t you all get along and help each other survive the onslaught of L Ron Hubbard. Otherwise we’ll be ploughed under by his mindless legion of hollywood zombies. THE WAR’S OUT THERE, MAN!!!!! OUT THERE!!!!!!!!

  7. Minty Says:

I think we’ve seen the yellow ribbon song here before, and had the debate. Nonetheless, I still agree that it’s the lamest show of patriotism ever, regardless of its origins.

Oh, and the bubble wrap apocalypse was just too sadistic for my vodka-laden tummy to tolerate for more than a minute. Still funny, though.
