How to take down Netflix
Offer the same service.
Put two minutes of unskippable commercials before the movie.
Make the movies free to rent.
Somebody work out all of the minor details and then give me money.

As soon as you are profitable, the studios will demand that it be 120 minutes of commercials or you will have to charge a fee.

Actually, I’d prefer this to DVDs and Blu-rays that have ads for movies, vastly so. Why? Well, it wouldn’t be so bad if the ads were ever current other than three weeks from release date. I bought *physical media you shitsuckers*, and that means I’m going to watch it long after those ads are less than relevant.
You should try and sell this idea, like now, before some shithead sees this and decides to sell it.

You mean like Hulu already did/does? And yet they still have to charge to make a profit. It’s not Netflix or Hulu or anyone else that’s the issue. It’s the damn studios who decided to charge them 10 times more to license the same movies.

Hell, if you could make it so all the movies/TV shows were available for streaming video, you’d outpace them.
I was about to sign up for Netflix, when I noticed their collection is 90% DVDs and Blurays, while their ads mention their ‘huge’ collection of streaming videos.
Sure, DVDs are still handy and stuff, but streaming would work much better for geeks like me.
And I checked, Hulu has even less of a selection. I want my Night Court, damn it.

Expansion to improve the idea even more: Once something is put up for streaming, keep it up. It is annoying as all get out to start watching a series and have them take it down when you are only halfway through.
If you ask me, Netflix is setting itself up for a repeat of what happened to Blockbuster.

You could always limit your selection to things that people will actually want to watch. Yeah, it’ll be expensive to license Captain America, but if you don’t bother with things like Titanic II or or some shit like that, it should be loads cheaper.
