This is so fucking true. I work for a company where I get exposed to information about what all the wireless stuff means. Both Sprint and T-Mobile have faster networks than AT&T. There are plenty of phones out there better than an iPhone.
Yeah, you should. Sheep are useful. They function as automatic lawnmowers, provide wool for clothing, and eventually tasty tasty mutton, and those are just their three primary functions (we’re not going to go into what lonely herders use them for).
lololol, I have an iphone, and even I can’t stand THOSE people. For the record, I have one of the older versions, and I bought it because I’m lazy and I like being able to connect it to my computer and have it do all the work for me. Also, I tried to do something on a friend’s smartphone and there’s just too many damn buttons for me. I don’t get why people are waiting in lines overnight, outside in the rain, for a phone that they ALREADY HAVE! It’s not radically different then the older versions, and ALL the older versions are on sale now, and oh yeah, by the way, they work no matter which direction you are holding them!
While this article does a pretty good job of explaining why I prefer Android devices over iDevices, it still is misleading.
4G is still in development. Sprint does not have a 4G network; they have a network with faster than 3G speeds. And T-mobile’s HSPA stuff blows *THOSE* speeds out of the water.
While hilarious and informative, I may be one of the only people who still uses their phone only as a phone. Though if I ever do decide to join the 21st Century, it’ll probably be with this Evo thingy. Fuck name brands, give me the specs!
I’m not much better, I use it as a phone and to text… the rest of the stuff on the phone is a waste of time/money for me. In the US you get all the extras with a phone that works somewhat (bad connection, volume, etc) in Europe, the phone works as a phone and you use your laptop for everything else!
…I’m still not getting another “smart” phone… owned one for a little while, and the only things I ever used it for were 1-phone 2-texting and 3-crappy camera. The apps just got in the way, and the OS just killed the battery life.
I’ve never been one for half-measures. Until I can get an internet connection like the one I’m using right now wirelessly, with an device as powerful and versatile as my PC, a phone is just a phone to me. Screw the 21st century, somebody freeze me so they can wake me up in the 24th(and a half).
Still, hilarious video. The next one by that user is awesome too (and subverts this one).
The HTC EVO, the Nexus One and the Droid Incredible have 1GHz processors. And with the broadband solutions being rolled out by T-mobile (currently the fastest, with up to 21 Mbps in some areas), Sprint, AT&T and Verizon, it’s quite possible the speed to your handset could *beat* what you have at home. As for “crappy camera”, all of those phones have 5-8 Megapixel cameras, some with flash and video.
The apps on my phone (I’m still actually stuck in a G1) are things that wouldn’t be nearly as convenient if they were PC based.
Eh, I’m a Gig network only snob with a 50MBps connection that I pay way too much for (and a dated 2×2.0Ghz processor… I need to build a new system soon)… though the connection speeds you quote on those phones certainly aren’t anything to snub one’s nose at… but I was talking more about the lack of powerful browser support, horrible touchscreen detection, short battery life… and when I go anywhere, it tends to be pretty far out of range for a G-anything network. I’m not much of a townie. I prefer to leave the traffic behind.
So, yeah. To each his own.

Replying to my own comment since I can’t reply to LoC’s subsequent…
I myself have a 50Mbps @ home, so 21M certainly isn’t even approaching that (and my phone won’t support it). But I’m in a test area for Verizon FIOS, and frankly, most people just aren’t. The broadband speeds offered by the AT&T comparable product UVerse just aren’t anywhere close to that, and for people without FTTX, they’re pretty well screwed.
I have a friend who can ONLY get Satellite “broadband” where she lives, and their speed is slower than ancient dialup. >.< I frankly would've preferred to work on my phone!
But, the flash/java/silverlight/whatever gaping security hole of the day that is all "shiny", I could do without, personally. So I'm not all that fussed about the browser support. My phone does nearly everything I want it to do (and then some!).
Most of the HTC devices have aftermarket batteries which are not only larger capacity, but in some cases PHYSICALLY larger. You're right, though, the battery life on the stock batteries is shit.
I will admit I find the touchscreen on the iPhone appallingly bad. I like it on the G1, though, and for the two minutes I held a Nexus One, it felt like it was reading my mind. I'd REALLY prefer the Nexus with a physical keyboard, but I don't see HTC manufacturing one like that.
Better camera than my digital, though, which is nice.
I live in town, though, but I'm at the edge of it, and my HOME area isn't due for an HSPA/LTE/WiMax/"4G"/whatever upgrade any time in the near future. I still get 3G here, but there are times when I go through EDGE (or gods help me, GPRS!) and holy gods is that stuff slow. Jeebus. I think I could CODE the page faster than it loads!
But then again, I do type 100+ WPM…so that's not *much* of an exaggeration

Now Sheeple on the other hand are pretty useless.
