Maybe I’m A Bad Person
For a while the following message has been floating around Facebook.
While you SCREAM at your woman, there’s a man wishing he could talk softly to her ear. While you HUMILIATE, OFFEND & INSULT her, there’s a man flirting with her & reminding her how wonderful she is. While you HURT your woman, there’s a man wishing he could make love to her. While you make your women CRY there’s a man stealing smiles from her.
As I look at this poetic and essentially decent message all I can think is “I know there is some sort of BDSM joke in there .”

The lesson I was taught was, for every single beautiful woman in the world, no matter how beautiful, there is some guy, some where, that is sick and tired of her shit.

There’s one part of my brain going “Aww” and another going “You arrogant insufferable prick!” Unfortunately, this reminds me of something I saw recently at a local college. It produced the same dual response of agreement in principal and anger at the exact method. It was this weirdass art piece and a notation. The thing was basically about rape awareness and prevention at colleges. Good thing. But they way the girl (I checked the artists name) went about it was idiotic and self-sabotaging. I’m paraphrasing, but basically she said that all men are complicit in rape, directly or indirectly. Which is damn insulting considering on more than one occasion I’ve had opportunity and didn’t do a damn thing ’cause I knew it was wrong. Instead of rallying to her cause she insults and alienates guys. Anyway, the connection here is I had the same dual response when I read her thing.

And this is why I no longer consider myself a Feminist–I can’t stand all the idiots. Yes, let’s take a real problem (rape) and distort the facts to the point where sympathizers (in this case, men who agree rape is a) real and b) a problem) get so disgusted they stop listening. Just wonderful.
Of course, the same could be said of any group advocating change (e.g. Teapartiers), but Feminists seem to make themselves the biggest target.

Frustrating, isn’t it? You’ve got guys like me that genuinely believe in equality for the sexes, old school feminists that believe in the same thing, and then the new wave feminists that blame the lads for all the evils of the world. Which of course has the potential to create a self perpetrating problem when the nice lads get pissed off at getting blamed for the shit the jackasses do and become jackasses themselves.

If an abusive husband/boyfriend actually read this i have no doubt he would go home and beat his wife/girlfriend.
Kind of defeats the entire purpose of this when you think about it. The people who arent its target get its message. The people who are its target could end up doing more of what its against, directly as a result of it.
Is this irony?
