Better than nothing I guess
So I’ve had hideous writers block for the past week or so. I keep starting posts, and then abandoning them. I got almost all the way through one, only to conclude that it wasn’t very good. One of the contributing factors was getting Team Fortress 2.
For those of you who are into video games but unfamiliar wit this one, TF2 is a great online competitive FPS, with a retro cartoony style and a warped sense of humor. For everyone who isn’t into computer games, I didn’t finish a post because I was busy trying to nerd myself to death.
So the last post I made, got over 500 people reading Shadowgirls. This is great for two reasons.
One: I got a whole bunch of people looking at my friend’s comic.
Two: There are at least five hundred people on the internet that will do things when I tell them too.
This has some definite potential. Now I just need to find a way to convert this newfound power into a big pile of money, free video games, and naked women.
On another note, I’m kind of wondering what to do for posts on here. I’ve been out of the Army nearly as long as I was in for, and eventually the well of stories is going to run dry.
I’d write funny stories about the video game industry, but there are two problems. The first is that the video game industry is not nearly as interesting as you might suspect. Plus it has the added disadvantage that I currently work in that industry, and wish to continue to do so. Some officer I used to work for getting pissy over my site is funny. Some guy who can actually fire me getting pissy is significantly less funny.
And since I’ve been stuck for a while does anyone have any other subjects they would like me to write about?

I know I’ve said it before but I would love to hear some of the stories behind some of the things on your list. I know not all of them have long funny stories but certainly some of them must?

Why you enlisted and how you ended up where you did

I found your post about car magnets and different views on “supporting the troops” very interesting. (Probably should have commented then and there. Oh well.) I tend to like getting the perspective on current military activities and the public response thereto from someone who has served in the military.

Did you go to college? College stories are always funny.

Well, I agree with LB Bryant, the stories behind the list would probably be pretty good. You can also just blog about your life now. I know you mentioned working in the gaming industry, there are a ton of gaming industry people with blogs (which is sort of how I found yours). If you don’t find that particularly interesting well..I’m wondering if there are things Skippy is not allowed to do at work?

Hmmmm…The 213 Things Skippy Isn’t Allowed To Do In The Board Room. Sounds promising.

Comment #2 by Ari Krauss sounds good. Or since we all wanna hear more about things on the list, pick one of the commenters to this blog and let them pick one from the list for you to write about. (A reward for your most ardent commenter, maybe?!?)

A few of your past posts have let us in on the stories behind some of the list like the squid, inflatable sheep, etc. I say go through each one, and if there’s a funny back story, flesh it out a little for us.

I am interested in finding out about some of the stories behind the items on the list. My A-driver handed me the list while I was in Iraq and I laughed my but off. I always wondered about some of the stories. Examples are the stuffed bunny “Easter Desecration,” crucifying mice, and exactly what hat is #163 take off that hat is in referance to.

‘Course, if you get fired anyway, there’s nothing to keep you from posting about what happened at your old job.

Write about random/funny things that go on in your everyday life. The topics dont necessarily need to be about the video game industry, random just things that happen on a daily basis.

How does one go about threatening people with black magic?
Is there a funny story behind 3 & 4?

Oh, I can imagine there are some funny stories that pertain to certain schools you have had to attend in the military, and being prior service myself, I know that how you can relate to civilian schools and jobs can get very entertaining as well. Maybe some more perspectives about the support our troops would go well also.
Come on “Princes”, you have got one of the funniest blogs I have ever had the pleasure of reading, we would love to hear just about anything you have to offer, but I can understand about TF2 being a distraction, I have been on the beta for Hellgate: London and now my wife is convinced she will be a “video game widow” as soon as it is released on wednesday, LOL!

Ah, yes. TF2. Consumer of all my spare time.
You’d think it’d get old after the first two full map rotations, BUT IT DOESN’T.
